Morning Bay’s dramatic terraced vineyard climbs 200 feet up the rocky sough flank of Mount Menzies on North Pender Island off BC’s rugged west coast. Morning Bay’s unique gravity flow winery uses natural processes to extract the finest flavours from its wines. With hand-tended grapes from their own 7-acre estate vineyard and grapes from some of BC’s best vineyards, Morning Bay makes wines that bear the stamp of hand craftsmanship.
Their unique gravity-flow winery uses natural processes to nurture wines that bear the stamp of hand-craftsmanship. Designed in the style of a barn, the two-floor winery keeps primary fermentation upstairs, in the “hayloft,” and barrel and bottle storage in the “manger,” where sub-grade construction and concrete maintain a perfect wine-aging temperature.
Wines are easily moved using gravity and kept at the ideal temperature for fermentation. Their winery also features their Barrel Room, where private parties and suppers can be held among the barrels, with the soft notes of their grand piano in the background.
